Details: Rider was pulled over after a California Highway Patrol officer stopped the Mercedes-Benz he was driving because it had illegally tinted front windows.  They then saw a ‘cloud of marijuana smoke’ come from the vehicle, and upon searching it they found a cell phone with the serial numbers illegally scratched off.  Rider had been jailed and nearly arrested just two weeks earlier following sexual assault accusations, and would go on to be arrested two more times in the next four months.

Charge: Assault on pregnant woman

Arrest Date: April 26, 1996

Franchise: Dallas Mavericks

Age 23

Details: Dumas was arrested after assaulting his 4-month pregnant girlfriend.  While driving in North Dallas late one evening, the two began arguing, at which point Dumas began beating her repeatedly until she dived from the slowly moving vehicle to escape.  This was Dumas’ second arrest of 1996.

Age 21

Details: While a young rookie with the Washington Bullets, Wallace violated a restraining order by visiting his child’s mother during a dispute over visitation rights.  He was charged with misdemeanor assault.  This was the first of two career arrests for Wallace.

Details: Anderson was arrested and charged with contempt of court, following a warrant being issued after he failed to pay child support.

Charge: Filing a false car theft report

Arrest Date: January 14, 1996

Franchise: Dallas Mavericks

Age 23

Details: Early one morning Dumas called police to report that his Dodge Viper was stolen at gunpoint by a masked assailant.  Later it was discovered that Dumas had crashed his car three hours earlier and fled the scene of the accident.
